Avs, Devon Toews Agree To Four-Year Deal

The Colorado Avalanche have agreed to a four-year deal with newly acquired defenseman Devon Toews.

The contract for Toews runs through the 2023-24 season, the team announced Tuesday.

Colorado picked up Toews from the New York Islanders on Oct. 12 in exchange for a second-round pick in 2021 and another in '22.

Defenseman Torey Krug, one of the top prizes in this year's NHL free-agent class, has agreed to a seven-year contract worth $45.5 million with the St. Louis Blues, the team announced Friday night.

A blue-line staple for the Bruins, Krug, 29, has spent his entire NHL career with Boston, playing in 523 games. A quarterback of the power play, he has 67 career goals and 337 points.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with gritty forward Wayne Simmonds.

Simmonds returns home, having grown up in the Toronto area.

"I think this was a perfect spot for me, not only on the ice but obviously off the ice for me as well," Simmonds told Sportsnet. "It was a pretty easy decision."
